Robby Tompkins, director of philanthropy of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, accepted a check from Steve Nevitt, store director at Needler’s Fresh Market in honor of World Food Day Oct. 16. Needler’s parent company Fresh Encounter Inc. and their customers donated a total of $50,000 to local food banks following a back-to-school food drive. Customer donations combined with a donation from Fresh Encounter were distributed to eight local food banks supporting over 10,000 meals to families through East Central Indiana, according to a press release.

The Vernon Township Fire Department shared this photo taken at a joint live fire training last week. The training was with Greenfield Fire Territory, Buck Creek Township Fire Department and the Hancock County 911 Center at the Jackson Training Tower in Greenfield. The session gave firefighters real-world experience in fighting a fire and how to coordinate with other departments.
