GREENFIELD — Hancock County’s preliminary unemployment rate for September was 3.7%, according to information from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development released Wednesday. That’s the same rate as August, but up from the benchmark of one year ago, which was 2.4% in September 2023.
Statewide, Indiana’s preliminary jobless rate for September was 4.3%. Nationally, the September unemployment rate was 3.9%.
Howard County had the highest preliminary rate in the state for September, at 7.9%, while Martin, Daviess, Clinton, Benton and Boone counties had the had the lowest, at 3.2%. Hancock County’s unemployment rate ranked No. 63 in the state.
