Letter to the Editor: Character Matters

To the Editor:

Character matters when I consider candidates who will earn my vote. When I look at my ballot this year, there’s one candidate for state representative who embodies integrity, civility, and a heart for serving others.

Ethan Lawson is the Republican candidate for state representative, running to serve in the seat currently held by Rep. Bob Cherry, who is retiring.

I’ve gotten to know Ethan and his wife, Holly, over the last decade. Ethan cares deeply about making sure our community is represented with integrity and a focus on solutions to address high costs with fiscal responsibility and low taxes. He supports our military and first responders, and will work to combat fentanyl and invest in addiction recovery efforts, protect children and promote learning, and defend our freedoms.

Ethan knows the challenges we face because he’s knocked on doors across the community and listened to what people want out of their leaders.

In fact, Ethan may be one of Hancock and Madison counties’ hardest-working candidates in recent memory. He was out knocking on doors in January, and he hasn’t stopped getting out and listening.

Even when the other side disparages and demeans, Ethan takes the high road and continues to run with integrity, Hoosier values, and an authentic conservative approach to leadership, rooted in listening.

Character matters, and that’s why I’m proud to cast my vote for Republican Ethan Lawson for state representative.
