McCordsville to host events in McCord Square

MCCORDSVILLE – The town of McCordsville will host community events in the new McCord Square Oct. 6.

Market in McCordsville and Cars & Coffee events are scheduled Oct. 6 at the new site, 5811 Main St., McCordsville

Cars and Coffee is from 9-11 a.m. The free community event accepts all vehicle makes, models and years.

The Market in McCordsville runs from 1-4 p.m. Local crafters, artisans, farmers and home-based businesses are on site. Admission and parking are free.

Pumpkins and Peddlers event Oct. 19

SHIRLEY – The town of Shirley’s annual Pumpkins and Peddlers event is coming up Oct. 19.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. and festivities run until 5 p.m., with entertainment, a chili cook-off, car show, vendors, pumpkin decorating contest and recipe contest. Register for the parade or learn about becoming a vendor through facebook.com/shirleyindiana.

Character breakfast coming to GCHS

GREENFIELD – The community is invited to Breakfast Buddies, an opportunity to eat breakfast and meet superheroes and princesses.

The event is hosted by Cougar Cubs Preschool and the Family Career and Community Teachers of America. It’s from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Greenfield-Central High School cafeteria, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. Cost is $25 per person, with a limit of four people per family. Breakfast includes pancakes with toppings, sausage links, apple juice and a choice of a Danish or muffin. Each child will receive an autograph book and characters will walk around and sign the book and take pictures. Children attending are also encouraged to dress up.

Fire department to host festive night out

GREENFIELD – The Buck Creek Township Fire Department will host a Halloween-themed Community Night Out from 2-6 p.m. Oct. 19.

The event will feature a trunk or treat, goodie bags, prizes, raffle, food and a live doll house burn. Donations of non-perishable items for the department’s food pantry will be accepted. The department is located at 5809 Airport Blvd., Greenfield.

MV school board candidate forum Oct. 23

FORTVILLE – Learn about Mt. Vernon School Board candidates in a forum coming up this month.

The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation is hosting a school board candidate forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Mt. Vernon Alumni Center, 1806 W. Ind. 234, Fortville.

Candidates running for Mt. Vernon School Board at-large positions are Meghan Britt, Phil Edwards, Chad Gray, Jamie Kalb and Stacy Nielsen. Voters choose three names when casting a ballot. The positions are non-partisan. Incumbents are Britt, Edwards and Gray.

Harvest Days sale benefits hospital volunteer fund

GREENFIELD – Hancock Health Volunteer Services will host its annual Harvest Days fundraiser sales event in October.

The event is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 9-11 at the Robert Keen Room next to the lower level lobby of Hancock Regional Hospital. The gift shop will have displays that feature holiday items, home decor, baby and children’s items, clothing and more. Local retail vendors include J. Evelyn Confections, Tuttle Orchards and Udders-N Suds LLC Luxury Goat Milk Bath Products.

Proceeds benefit the Volunteer Services Fund, which pays for special requests such as a new bed for the seep center or supplies for the women’s center.
