Boots & Bourbon set for Oct. 19

GREENFIELD – Boots & Bourbon returns Oct. 19, raising money for a local nonprofit organization.

The bourbon, spirits and wine-tasting event is set for 5-9 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 515 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. The event benefits Meals on Wheels of Hancock County, a nonprofit, medically-tailored meal delivery program.

Expect live music and entertainment, gourmet food pairings, and meet-and-greet with industry experts. VIP packages include one hour of special reserve bourbon tasting before the general public as well as swag and cigar pairings.

Tickets are $50 for general admission at 6 p.m.; $75 for VIP admission at 5 p.m.; and $20 for a safe driver ticket. Learn more at bootsandbourbon.org.

Weed prevention events coming up

FORTVILLE – Learn about invasive plant species, or volunteer to eradicate plants in upcoming events.

“The Basics of Natives and Invasives” will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Vernon Township office, 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville. The event is hosted by Hancock County CISMA Invasive Species Management. Learn about the importance of native plants and the management of species in the presentation. Learn more by emailing Director Jenni Leary, [email protected].

The group is also seeking volunteers for a weed wrangle. Help remove invasive species in Hancock County at three upcoming events: 9:30 to noon Oct. 12 at Brandywine Park (Greenfield); 9:30 to noon Oct. 19 at The Gardens of Vernon Township (Fortville); and 10:30 am. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Beckenholdt Park (Greenfield). Meet in the parking lot of the park and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Loppers and gloves are provided, or bring your own. Snacks and drinks are also provided. Chamber to host meeting

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Chamber of Commerce will host a meeting next week.

The event is at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 1 at NineStar Connect, 2243 E. Main St., Greenfield. Guest speaker is Jim Bishop of Conjunction Leadership. Cost is $15 and includes lunch; register by Sept. 27 at greenfieldcc.org.

The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Hancock Area Chamber of Commerce recently merged to form a united Hancock County Chamber of Commerce to combine resources, networks and services.

Suicide grief support group available

GREENFIELD – A suicide grief group is available from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
