Boots & Bourbon set for Oct. 19
GREENFIELD – Boots & Bourbon returns Oct. 19, raising money for a local nonprofit organization.
The bourbon, spirits and wine-tasting event is set for 5-9 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 515 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. The event benefits Meals on Wheels of Hancock County, a nonprofit, medically-tailored meal delivery program.
Expect live music and entertainment, gourmet food pairings, and meet-and-greet with industry experts. VIP packages include one hour of special reserve bourbon tasting before the general public as well as swag and cigar pairings.
Tickets are $50 for general admission at 6 p.m.; $75 for VIP admission at 5 p.m.; and $20 for a safe driver ticket. Learn more at bootsandbourbon.org.
Weed prevention events coming up
FORTVILLE – Learn about invasive plant species, or volunteer to eradicate plants in upcoming events.
“The Basics of Natives and Invasives” will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Vernon Township office, 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville. The event is hosted by Hancock County CISMA Invasive Species Management. The group is also seeking volunteers for a weed wrangle. Help remove invasive species in Hancock County at three upcoming events: 9:30 to noon Oct. 12 at Brandywine Park (Greenfield); 9:30 to noon Oct. 19 at The Gardens of Vernon Township (Fortville); and 10:30 am. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Beckenholdt Park (Greenfield). Meet in the parking lot of the park and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Loppers and gloves are provided, or bring your own. Snacks and drinks are also provided. Chamber to host meeting
GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Chamber of Commerce will host a meeting next week.
The event is at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 1 at NineStar Connect, 2243 E. Main St., Greenfield. Guest speaker is Jim Bishop of Conjunction Leadership. Cost is $15 and includes lunch; register by Sept. 27 at greenfieldcc.org.
The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Hancock Area Chamber of Commerce recently merged to form a united Hancock County Chamber of Commerce to combine resources, networks and services.
Suicide grief support group available
GREENFIELD – A suicide grief group is available from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
