CARTHAGE
Howard Russell Shields, age 60, of Carthage passed away on September 21, 2024. He was born on March 9, 1964, in Greenfield, Indiana to the late Lois Ruth (White) and Thomas Shields.
Howard was a 1982 graduate of Knightstown High School and 1986 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He graduated in 1991 from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Masters in Business Administration. Howard worked over 30 years in the Aerospace and automotive industries. He retired from Workhorse in 2023. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working outside in the yard. Howard was a member of the Raysville Friends Church.
He is survived by his wife Sonna (Bechtel) Shields; two step-children Brian Rosales, and Shavon (Josh) Kramarczyk; five grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Ethan, Dominic and Joshua; siblings, Pennina (Phil) McMullen, Charles Shields and Charity (Tony) Maxwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 7:00 PM Friday, September 27, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Michael Jay officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until time of service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to americanliverfoundation.org.
