Greenfield-Central schools are working with puppies to eventually be used as therapy dogs within the schools. A benefit comedy show is coming up this weekend.

Therapy dogs to benefit from show

GREENFIELD – A free, family-friendly comedy show in support of Greenfield-Central’s therapy dogs is coming up.

HeeHaws for Paws will be at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. Dave “The King” Wilson will be featured, along with the G-C ComedySportz High School League.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at gcmusic.ludus.com. Proceeds support the training of therapy dogs.

Shrine group to host meal, meeting

GREENFIELD – The next meeting of the Hancock County Shrine Club will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Fraternal Order of Police, 400 E. Davis Road, Greenfield.

Car seat clinic Friday

GREENFIELD – A free car seat clinic is coming up this Friday.

Hancock Health is hosting an event for parents and caregivers from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the Hancock Health Hospital rear parking lot. Car seat safety checks and free car seats will be available to those in need. Register for a time slot at https://bit.ly/3T6ReBO.

Fire department to host community event

NEW PALESTINE – A local fire department is hosting a free community event this weekend.

The Sugar Creek Township Fire Prevention and Life Safety Open House is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3545 S. 600W., New Palestine. The event will feature free bike helmets, a junior firefighter combat challenge, face painting, a junior paramedic challenge, antique fire truck rides, bounce house and more.

Retirement party planned for Ebbert

GREENFIELD – The community is invited to attend the retirement party for Jill Ebbert, director of the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen.

The event is from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 21 at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St., Greenfield.
