A project mock-up of the new pocket park in Cumberland shows the musical details that are being added to the Pennsy Trail.

Musical park to open in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND — The town of Cumberland will unveil its newest pocket park, Music on Pennsy, this week.

Music on Pennsy is set to transform an existing underutilized node along the Pennsy Trail into an interactive musical playground. According to a press release from the town, the pocket park will feature an array of nature-themed musical playground equipment, including xylophones, bongos, steel drums and more. It will also feature a music-themed ground mural, inviting residents of all ages to experience the joy of making music amidst nature. Located along the Pennsy Trail between South County Line Road and CR 700W, this initiative aims to revitalize an underutilized section of the trail.

The closest trailhead access is at 11800 Warehouse Road. In 2025, a new trailhead access with parking will open in The Hub at Pennsy Trail.

The park’s ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 10 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 14 and is open to the public. The event will take place at 11800 Warehouse Road, Indianapolis, with parking available on-site.

The new musical pocket park is located roughly one-third of a mile east on the Pennsy Trail. Celebrate the park’s opening with light refreshments and music.
