Boys soccer roundup: Marauders win HHC opener

Mt. Vernon’s boys soccer team won its Hoosier Heritage Conference opener with a 5-0 victory at New Castle Saturday.

Charlie Cole had a hat trick and Ryker Wolfgang and Antonio Reske had the other Mt. Vernon goals.

Brady Webber, Sawyer Jones, Colin Cress, Colby Smith and Jaylyn Meggenhofen each had assists.

Will Keppler had six saves. Joe Buchanan had one save.

The Marauders jumped out with three first-half goals.

Mt. Vernon is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the HHC. New Castle is 1-2 and 0-1.

Dragons fall to Bulldogs

New Palestine’s boys soccer team dropped to 1-2 on the season after a 4-0 loss to visiting Brownsburg Saturday.

The Bulldogs scored two goals in each half.

Cougars drop decision to EC

At Greenfield-Central Saturday, the Cougars boys soccer team lost 3-0 to East Central.

East Central scored twice in the first half and once in the second.

Brennan Lewis had all three goals for EC.

Greenfield-Central is 0-3 on the season.
