HANCOCK COUNTY — A Greenfield man will serve five years in the Indiana Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to felony charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and possession of child pornography.

Brandon Scott Daniels, 20, 600 block of S. Pennsylvania was sentenced Aug. 7 in Hancock Superior Court 1 after entering a plea agreement last month Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton said.

Daniels was facing two Level 5 felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and one Level 5 felony count of child exploitation as well as a Level 6 felony count of child pornography from an incident in July 2023.

Daniels was sentenced to a term of 1,460 days with one year suspended to sex offender specific probation with 1,095 days to be executed on Count I and 910 days executed with 365 days suspended to sex offender specific probation on Count 4 for a total of 1,850 days executed. The other counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Daniels had sexual contact with a 15-year-old victim and created images of that contact. The incidents occurred in July 2023.

“Daniels was 19 years old at the time of this crime,” Eaton said. “He was an adult who chose to take advantage of a vulnerable young teenager. Those who choose to violate the law and abuse children will be held accountable for their actions.”

Eaton noted the work done by Greenfield Police Department Detective Jill Jenkins was key and that her work in the case as well as Zoey’s Place Child Advocacy Center, where a forensic interview was conducted with the victim, were huge in securing the outcome of the case. In addition, Eaton said the important work of the victim assistants with the prosecutor’s office is making a difference in the county.

“Our victim assistance team is critical to our ability to be able to prosecute cases like this one,” Eaton said. “Shannon Crull and Kayla Crouch really do an amazing job of helping our team with these types of important cases.”

Eaton also noted deputy prosecutor Jordan Stroh deserves credit for her work on the case and bringing it to a successful conclusion.

“I am so thankful for the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office for giving me the opportunity to bring justice to crime victims,” Stroh said. “This family can now begin to rebuild their lives and work for a brighter future. I am really grateful I could help them.”
