Libraries hosting events for adults

GREENFIELD – There are several programs for adults coming up at libraries across Hancock County.

At the Hancock County Public Library, a Prepping for Emergency Workshop Series is Tuesdays starting Aug. 13; the events currently have a wait list.

Genealogy open research is Aug. 14; Writers Helping Writers is Aug. 15; yoga is Aug. 17 and 31. Learn how to get the most out of your DNA test in an Aug. 21 presentation. Sign up at hcplibrary.org.

The HCPL will also be hosting a Craft Swap throughout the month of August at both library locations in Greenfield and New Palestine.

Clear out closets and donate new or gently-used crafting supplies anytime during Drop-Off Week, Aug. 12-19.

Those who drop off items will receive a pickup ticket. Bring the ticket to Pickup Day 1 on Aug. 24, to snag some new-to-you crafting supplies. Pickup Day 2 is Aug. 25 and will be open to anyone. The main library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. The Sugar Creek Branch is located at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. No registration is necessary. Visit hcplibrary.org for more.

In Fortville, the Tuesday Morning Club for seniors continues each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Visit vtpl.lib.in.us for more information on the Vernon Township Public Library.

Mobile blood drives coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up across Hancock County during the last two weeks of August.

In Greenfield, Hancock Regional Health hosts a drive Aug. 16; Hancock County Public Library, Aug. 17; and Willow Branch United Methodist Church, Aug. 31.

Blood drives on the west side of the county include Proportion Air, Aug. 14; Hancock Wellness Center McCordsville, Aug. 14; The Market in McCordsville, Aug. 18; Kammy’s Kause, Aug. 24; Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, Aug. 25; Mt. Vernon High School, Aug. 29; and McCordsville United Methodist Church, Aug. 29.

Drives in New Palestine include Brookville Road Community Church, Aug. 15.; and the Sugar Creek branch of the HCPL, Aug 25.

Free legal advice available at HCPL

GREENFIELD – Free legal help is available from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Hancock County Public Library.

Talk to a lawyer and get free legal advice to help with court forms. The program is for civil matters only; bring any paperwork relating to the case.

The event is hosted by Pro Bono Indiana and Indiana Legal Services. It’s at the central library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Call 317-462-5711 for questions.
