Sister Cities 5K event coming up

GREENFIELD – Registration is open for the 11th annual Sister Cities 5K Run/Walk.

The event is at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 and begins at the Sister Cities Park on the Pennsy Trail, next to the Greenfield Police Department. The course follows the trail, heading west before turning around and returning to the park.

Registration is $25 from now through Aug. 3 and includes a T-shirt. After that the price increases to $30 with no shirt.

Sister Cities of Greenfield relies on fundraising from the community to help provide opportunities for local students to visit Kakuda, Japan. A group of Japanese students will visit Greenfield this August and will be at the event. For more or to donate directly to the program, visit sistercitiesofgreenfield.org.

Local art showcased in online map

GREENFIELD — Greenfield’s murals and sculptures are featured in a new online map, encouraging residents and visitors to take a self-guided tour of the city’s local art.

A map at greenfield-community.com/a-self-guided-tour-of-greenfields-local-art shows thirteen locations to view art in downtown Greenfield, from murals on the sides of buildings, to statues, to interactive musical instruments in an alleyway. The site also includes a brief description of each piece and the artist that created it.

Greenfield Community is a collaboration between the city of Greenfield, Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation, Hancock Health and NineStar Connect to provide a concise place for all things Greenfield.

Benefit motorcycle ride Saturday

FORTVILLE – The ninth annual Tammy’s Ride is coming up at 9 a.m. this Saturday in Fortville.

Sons of the American Legion Post 391 hosts the annual event honoring Tammy Marshall and her family. The legion is located at 207 S. Merrill St., Fortville. The ride includes bar stops and several activities outdoors for those under 21. Cost is $25 for a single and $35 for a double. The ride will end at Heartland Resort in Greenfield.
