GREENFIELD — A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place June 6 at a significant wastewater treatment plant expansion project in western Hancock County.

Local leaders joined officials from Aqua Indiana to cut the ribbon on its Western Hancock Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion project at 3511 N. CR 500W in Greenfield, which underwent a significant expansion to double the plant’s capacity and support the region’s projected growth.

Aqua Indiana provides water and wastewater service to approximately 100,000 people in 15 counties throughout Indiana.

Company officials said the infrastructure project, which was fully operational in August 2023, makes a significant impact by providing cleaner water and a healthier environment for western Hancock County.

“This expansion ensures we continue to meet Indiana’s environmental standards while supporting the growth of Western Hancock County,” said Aqua Indiana President Bob Ervin.

“By reducing pollutants and improving overall treatment efficiency, we can ensure cleaner water for a healthier future,” he said. “I’m grateful to the Indiana team who worked tirelessly to deliver the project on time and on budget. Their dedication to serving our customers is commendable.”
