Stephen Eugene Cecil, (Steve), 52 of Fairland, Indiana departed this life on Monday, May 20, 2024. Born on November 23, 1971, in Indianapolis Indiana, he was the son of Gordon and Florence Cecil.

Steve grew up in New Palestine, Indiana and graduated from New Palestine High School in 1990. He attended Purdue University at Indianapolis and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Leadership. Later, he obtained his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana Wesleyan University. After many decades of working in the engineering industry, he bought a farm he named Sugar Creek Farms. He raised beef, pork, chickens, goats and organic vegetables. He also offered personal training at the farm. He owned an Airbnb onsite and enjoyed meeting all the guests that visited the farm. He recently renamed the farm to Inner Peace Farm.

He was a lifetime avid reader and enjoyed studying philosophy and religious studies. He was always focused on fitness. He was a dedicated cyclist and hiker. His last hike was one he organized to the Big South Fork in Oneida Tennessee with a special group of friends. He loved nature and being outdoors. His biggest love were his boys, his pit bulls, Scooby and Yogi. They brough him great joy, love and companionship.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Florence Cecil, his maternal grandparents Wheaton and Pearl Slaven, and paternal grandparents Lonnie and Pearl Cecil. He was also preceded in death by his special friend Jeanne May last year.

Stephen is survived by his sister Rebecca A. (Monte) McDaniel; brother Michael L. Cecil; nieces Halee D. (Mitchell) Mathies and Amanda A. McDaniel; nephew Luke W. McDaniel; great nephew Maverick Mathies and special neighbor and dearest friend Matt Abplanalp.

Stephen was laid to rest on May 23, 2024 in New Palestine Cemetery near his parents. Private graveside services held by Bell Mortuary.
