Norman Lee Pyle, 82, Fountaintown, IN, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 7, 2024, as his loving family surrounded him. Norman was born on April 23, 1942, in Shelby County, to Earl and Edith (Thurston) Pyle. He is a 1960 graduate of Triton High School, Fairland, IN. Norman joined the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Janet Sue Ortel on August 30, 1969.
Norman worked at Ford Motor Company in quality control for many years. Alongside working at Ford, he started his own business, N.L. Pyle &Son Roofing Service. After Ford, Norman transitioned to Ryobi, also in quality control, before retiring in 2002. Norman and Janet were members of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Norman’s hobbies included fishing, taking care of the lawn, painting-by-number, baking, and flower &vegetable gardening. But his highlights were watching his grandchildren play in their sporting events of basketball, soccer, football, softball, and dance.
Norman is survived by his loving wife Janet of 55 years; children: Lynetta (Brent) Freudenstein, Aaron (Katina) Pyle, and Daryl Pyle; 6 awesome grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Sprong; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Liza Fox; and sister, Martha Magness.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 12442 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Mark Kern. Burial will follow in New Palestine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
