Children’s choir to perform eclipse-themed show

GREENFIELD – Experience “From Darkness to Light” in the Hancock County Children’s Choir spring production.

Show times are 2:30 and 7 p.m. April 6 at Realife Church, 5151 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield The show will explore the literal meaning of the eclipse through fun and contemplative pieces about the sun and the moon, darkness and light. The choir will expand upon the theme to explore the figurative meaning of darkness (sadness or adversity) and light (joy and healing).

Murder mystery event April 20

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Main Street will host a murder mystery party April 20 in downtown Greenfield.

“Best Laid Plans,” an old Hollywood mystery, will be performed by The Murder Mystery Co. at Carnegie’s A Place to Eat.

Big band, swing concert coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – The Racoon Lake Sax Quartet will pay tribute to the big band and swing eras in an upcoming free concert.

The quartet will perform at 6:30 p.m. March 25 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

The group will feature many popular songwriters and chart-topping songs of the era, and also provide facts, trivia and other background information at the all-ages event. Register at hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.

Student art exhibit throughout March

GREENFIELD – See art from Hancock County’s junior and senior high school students in an upcoming exhibit.

The Twenty North Gallery will host pieces from Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon and New Palestine public schools as well as the Greenfield Homeschool Co-op throughout March. A reception will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. this Friday at the gallery, 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Storyteller coming to HCPL

HANCOCK COUNTY – Storyteller Celestine Bloomfield will be at two libraries this month, sharing free shows with folktales from around the world including her personal version of “The three Little Pigs.”

The performer will be in Hancock County March 21; at 10 a.m. she will appear at the Sugar Creek Branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. At 2 p.m. she will share at the main library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Families are encouraged to attend the all-ages presentations.

New Pal Main Street plans summer concerts

NEW PALESTINE – New Palestine Main Street recently announced a music lineup for 2024.

Summer Fest will be June 21-22, featuring Cody Ikerd, Parrots of the Caribbean, Katrelle, 90 Proof, Country Summer, Bryson Cooper and The Band and Revery.

The Music on Depot series will feature the Nauti Yachtys July 27; Project 19 Aug. 10; Jai Baker Aug. 24; and 45 RPM Sept. 28. Festivities are free at 11 E. Main St., New Palestine; food, beer and wine are available for purchase. Visit newpalestinemainstreet.com for more.
