INDIANAPOLIS– Three local students served as senate pages in the Indiana Statehouse in the month of January.
Sen. Michael Crider, R-Greenfield, welcomed Noelle Carver, Samuel Carver and Joshua Klein to the program.
All three are from Greenfield. Noelle Carver and Samuel Carver are homeschooled; Joshua Klein attends New Palestine High School.
Pages spent a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.
“Pages have the unique opportunity to see the legislative process firsthand,” Crider said in a press release. “It’s always exciting to meet students from my district who are interested in state government. Answering questions they have about the process and having them help with tasks is a great way for them to experience learning outside the classroom.”
Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
