Ethan Starkey

Starkey named new advisor at Edward Jones

GREENFIELD – Ethan Starkey is a new financial advisor for Edward Jones, having joined the office of Michael Mack located at 1225 E. Main St., Greenfield.

Starkey had to complete one of the most rigorous training programs in the financial services industry, according to a press release from the company. Edward Jones is a leading financial services firm in the U.S. and through its affiliate in Canada. The firm’s more than 19,000 financial advisors serve more than 8 million clients.

Libraries offer adult programming

GREENFIELD – Local libraries offer programs specifically designed for adults this month.

Several book clubs and writing clubs are available through the Hancock County Public Library, 90 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Genealogy Open Research is Feb. 12, Adult Crafternoon Club is Feb. 20 and the library’s local author series will feature Pete Fleck Feb. 27. Childhood trauma explanatory sessions available

GREENFIELD – A new program is available to help people understand adverse childhood experiences, or ACE.

Hancock Health Connection Center recently announced the launch of ACE Interface Training. The training is designed to help people understand how trauma experienced in early childhood or in utero affects brain development and how the body responds to stress.

ACE Interface Training is a free, two-hour training available upon request. It offers an educational framework about the ACE study, along with the neurobiology that explains why adverse childhood experiences have such an effect on people’s lives. It also explains what can be done to dramatically improve health and resilience, according to a press release from Hancock Health.

Brass band coming to New Pal library

NEW PALESTINE – Get ready for Mardi Gras with Pork & Beans Brass Band, which will perform Feb. 7 at the Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library.

The band features the raw energy of NOLA funk. The eight-piece brass band (sousaphone, bass drum, snare drum, trombones, trumpets and saxophone) plays traditional and current brass band hits from the Crescent City.

Zumba offered through Greenfield Parks

GREENFIELD – Adult Zumba classes are available through Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

The exercise dance classes will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield.
