WILKINSON
Hazel R. Smith, 90, passed away January 30, 2024 at her home.
She was born May 23, 1933 in Mt. Orab, Ohio and was a Wilkinson resident most of her life.
Hazel was a multiple tasker throughout her life, she was employed at Delco Remy, Anderson; Modernfold, New Castle; was a beautician in Anderson; kept farm books up to date for years, moved trucks, took trucks to the elevators; prepared five course meals to those helping work in the field; as well as working for RCA in Indianapolis for several years.
She was a member of Shirley Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Sigma Beta Sorority, Rho Chapter for 50 years. Hazel was always active with her Sorority’s special activities, Sorority Dances, selling Easter baskets, selling Wick’s pies, Terri Lynn nut company, and setting up booths and selling caramel corn for all local festivals. She always enjoyed helping others in need. Hazel loved to travel especially to Sorority Conventions and events.
Survivors include her children, Ruth Jordan House of Willow Branch, Donnie (wife, Judy) Jordan of Wilkinson and Pamela Jordan Marine of Arlington; grandchildren, Jacqueline Parke of Wilkinson, Rusty (wife, Lisa) Parke of Wilkinson, Bryon (wife, Jennifer) Jordan of Markleville, Jeremiah Gabbard of Willow Branch and Noah Gabbard of Shelbyville; great grandchildren, Caitlin (husband, Zack) Hutchens of New Castle, Tabitha (husband, Jerod) Davis of Knightstown, Miranda (husband, Jake) Ramage of Shirley, Bryce Jordan of Markleville and Brady Jordan of Markleville; several great great grandchildren; step children, Larry Smith, Jerry Smith, Anita Florea, Tina Tutrow and Senita Smith; sisters, Grace Ebbert of Carthage and Martha Fry of Greenfield; sisters in law, Ellen Smith of Markleville and Connie Smith of Tennessee; special friend, Carolyn Wilson of Shirley; former sister in law, Phyllis Hedrick of Shirley; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins from Mt. Orab, Ohio.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald Smith; parents, Elmer and Elsie (Page) Smith; brothers, Bob Smith and Homer Smith; son in law, Dick Marine; and a stepson, Gary Smith.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2024 at Condo &St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, 130 S. Main St., Wilkinson with Pastor Jim Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.
Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2024 at the funeral home.
