Zumba offered through Greenfield Parks

GREENFIELD – Adult Zumba classes are available through Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

The exercise dance classes will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Women in ag event this month

FORT WAYNE – The 2024 Ag Women Engage Conference is set for Feb. 22 in Fort Wayne.

The event allows women in agriculture to connect with each other. The Purdue Women Agriculture Team offers the annual event, designed to educate and uplift women involved in any aspect of the industry, through workshops, a keynote speaker, breakout presentations and more. The keynote presentation will be by Amanda Radke, a fifth-generation rancher and author, on “Plant & Prune the Family Ag Business to Reap a Bountiful Harvest.”

Conference fee is $100. Registration is at purdue.link/AWE2024. Deadline to register is Feb. 13.

Youth philanthropy award available

GREENFIELD – High school juniors may apply for the 2024 Martha Beckenholdt Youth Philanthropy Award.

The award, through the Community Foundation of Hancock County, recognizes a junior who has contributed outstanding time, talent and energy to philanthropic endeavors – attributes of the woman whom the award honors.

The award recipient selects a Hancock County nonprofit organization or agency to receive a $1,000 grant in his or her name.

Teen clubs, programs at libraries

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several events designed for teens and “tweens” are coming up at local libraries.

A chess club is available at the Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library, New Palestine every Monday. The branch is also hosting a Mardis Gras Masks program Feb. 6, and Homeschool Writing Club on February 9. The library is located at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.

At the HCPL in Greenfield, teens in grades 6-12 can drop in Feb. 8 to make their own valentines; all materials will be provided. The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Register for programs at hcplibrary.org.
