Caroline Mae Hanna Silvey, 98, of Arcadia, IN, formerly of McCordsville, passed away at 4:28 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at home with her family by her side. She was born in McCordsville, Indiana to the late Leo and Gladys Crosley Hanna. On November 2, 1949, she married Thomas Oscar Silvey. The couple enjoyed 74 years of marriage before her passing.She graduated from McCordsville High School in 1944. Post High School, she attended business college and worked for an oil company. After graduation, and marrying Tommy, they ultimately settled in McCordsville, Indiana where they raised their 3 children. Caroline loved Purdue Basketball and Football, bird watching, reading, caring for flowers and plants and traveling – especially in the warmer climates, but she was proud that she and Tommy traveled to all of the lower 48 states.She also loved playing cards and was incredibly competitive. She was an accomplished knitter and created many keepsakes for her loved ones. Caroline enjoyed her family and especially her “little ones”.Caroline is survived by her husband and three children, Thomas Oscar Silvey II and wife Allison Leer of Greencastle, Daniel Silvey and wife Linda Silvey of Arcadia, and Nancy Spears and husband Mike of Fairland. Also, her sister Sue Lawhead of Greenfield.She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, Mary Jane Hill and husband Daniel, Killey Shuck and husband Dustin, Danielle Atkisson and husband Trent, Travis Silvey and wife Mary, Kandice Holton-Spears, Michael Spears, Denise Bolander and partner Brett, Earl Bolander and wife Lee Ann, Audrey Bolander and partner Jason.She is also survived by 13 great grandkids, Derrick Hill, Sarah Jane Hill, Marshall Atkisson, George Atkisson, Collin Atkisson, Hannah Silvey, Jackson Oscar Silvey, Quinton Bolander, Jillian Murray, James Murray, Lucy Hale, Cameron Metcalf and wife Tristan, and Angelina Metcalf, great granddaughter Ensley Metcalf as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Gladys Siegmond Silvey, sister Marjorie Silvey, brother in laws William Silvey and John Lawhead and sister in laws Irene Beeson and Mary “Liz” Wilkin-Woodard.A funeral to celebrate Caroline’s life will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Seals Funeral Home in Fortville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Caroline’s name to the American Cancer Society 5635 W. 96th Street Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46278.
