Fire academy applications available
GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Fire Territory is accepting applications for the 2024 GFT Fire Academy.
The academy will be March 21-July 25 on Mondays and Thursdays, with occasional Saturday meetings. Upon completion of the academy, students will receive certifications in Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Awareness and Hazmat Operations.
Tuition is $1,000 if paid in full before Feb. 21 and will increase to $1,150 after. Contact [email protected] for details, or call 317-477-4430.
Preschool events available for families
GREENFIELD – Local preschools are hosting open houses this week, giving parents and children a chance to look into schools prior to signing up for the 2024-25 school year.
Cougar Cubs’ two preschool locations will have open houses this week. An event is from 5-6 p.m. Jan. 22 at Cougar Cubs East, 1331 N. Blue Road, Greenfield; 5-6 p.m. Jan. 24 at Cougar Cubs West, 700 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. A preschool enrollment application will be available Feb. 1 at cougarcubs.gcsc.k12.in.us.
Zion Lutheran Preschool in New Palestine will host parent informational meetings Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 at 6513 W. 300 S., New Palestine. Learn more about the school at zionnewpal.org; enrollment opens Feb. 16.
Arts, rummage sale coming up Feb. 24
GREENFIELD – The annual Arts & Rummage Sale is coming up Feb. 24, raising money for a local organization and providing entertainment throughout the day. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Admission is 41; children 12 and under get in free. Booth space is available for $50 by emailing [email protected]. Lunch and snack foods are available for purchase.
Proceeds benefit KidsPlay Inc., a nonprofit children’s theater organization that produces two plays a year.
