Miller named to dean’s list
NEW PALESTINE – Sadie Miller of New Palestine was named to the dean’s list of Belmont University for the Fall 2023 semester.
Eligibility is based on a minimum of 12 hours and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Belmont University is located in Nashville, Tenn.
SH superintendent search input sought
NEW PALESTINE – Southern Hancock schools are seeking community input on a new superintendent.
The school board is using a university search team to aid in the process. A group of professors from Ball State, Indiana State, Indiana and Purdue universities are collecting data about what the community believes are strengths, challenges and other important aspects to help select the next superintendent. EH hall of fame nominations open
CHARLOTTESVILLE – Nominations are open for the Eastern Hancock High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
The award was founded to recognize and celebrate the positive accomplishments and contributions of Eastern Hancock High School alumni. Graduates of Eastern Hancock as well as Charlottesville, Westland, and Wilkinson High Schools are all eligible for consideration.
It is the purpose of the hall of fame to recognize such individuals who have through their performance, conduct, and achievement, brought credit and honor to themselves and Eastern Hancock High School. Their public example will hopefully serve to inspire future graduates to perform and serve in the same spirit.
Honorees will be recognized for outstanding achievement in their chosen field, leadership, the arts, and volunteer/community service. Nominees with outstanding records of achievement deserving of special recognition are eligible.

Community may donate to student lunches
GREENFIELD – Feed the Future is available as a donation program to help local students with unpaid meal debts at Greenfield-Central schools.
Students who do not qualify for the meal benefit program but lack money on their student account to cover the cost of the meal result in unpaid meal charges, since students are not denied a meal. Donations to help families pay off their debt can be made at EZSchoolPay.com. Create an account or continue as a guest and search Greenfield-Central Schools. Select “Feed the Future Donation” and complete a payment with a card. All donors will receive a digit confirmation receipt for tax purposes.
G-C teachers, staff may be honored through STAR program
GREENFIELD – Parents and community members can honor Greenfield-Central teachers and staff through the STAR Power program with the Greenfield Central School Foundation.
The program, available online and through the mail, allows people to thank teachers, principals, coaches, librarians, bus drivers or cafeteria workers. Visit gcschoolfoundation.com/star-power to find a form to name a person, write an optional note, and contribute a minimum of $10. Each honoree will receive a personalized card listing the donor’s name and special sentiments. All proceeds provide additional resources for G-C teachers, classrooms and students. Forms may be downloaded and mailed in, with a check payable to Greenfield Central School Foundation, 110 W. North St., Greenfield. Donations to the foundation can also be made at gcschoolfoundation.com/donate.

Foundation offers scholarships
GREENFIELD – The Community Foundation of Hancock County has announced scholarship opportunities. More than $450,000 will be awarded.
Traditional scholarship applications for graduating seniors and current college students are open now through Feb. 9. Nontraditional applications for adult learners are open Dec. 15 until funds are disbursed. Applications for trade and technology seniors are from Feb. 12 to April 12. Apply at celebratehancock.org.
