People of Apostolic Pentecostal Church pray together as midnight and a new year approaches after a past Watchnight Service. The church will have another such service at 9 p.m. Sunday.

Apostolic Pentecostal to pray in new year

GREENFIELD — A Watchnight Service is set for 9 p.m. Sunday at Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

This is a tradition at the church. There’s a service, often including teaching on Passover and Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples before his crucifixion. The Bible says Jesus washed his disciples’ feet before that meal, and the congregation’s men and women go to separate rooms for foot washing at the close of the service.

After the service, there’s typically a time for fellowship with pizza and games. As midnight draws near, the congregation gathers to pray as a new year arrives.

‘Experiencing God’ series starts Jan. 3

GREENFIELD — Trinity Park Church will start an “Experiencing God” study on Wednesday (Jan. 3). There will be a 12-part sermon series on Sundays. There’s also a small group devotional workbook for those interested. Find out more by calling the church office at 317-462-4303.

“Experiencing God” was first released in by Henry Blackaby and Claude V. King in the 1990s, and one of its memorable concepts to readers has been to join God where one sees God already at work. The study has been revised and expanded over the years.

Next lunch gathering is Jan. 10

WILKINSON — “Russ’s Table” next meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 10. It’s a free lunch with friends of any age, who can also linger over games after lunch. The gathering takes place the second Wednesday of each month at Wilkinson Church of Christ.
