Day of Love and Caring Dec. 24

GREENFIELD – The annual Day of Love and Caring is coming to the Hancock County Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Parents, grandparents and guardians can select Christmas gifts for children and clothes. Hot meals will be on site and children can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Organizers suggest bringing two adults: one to monitor children while the other secretly “shops” at the event.

The program is sponsored through God’s Open Arms Ministry, in addition to Hancock County Agricultural Association, Journey Bags of Hancock County, Changing Footprints and the Lisa Muegge Feast of Plenty. The fairgrounds is located at 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Email [email protected] for questions.

Christmas Eve Facebook video returns

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County 911 Center’s annual Christmas Eve Facebook Video is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. Dec. 24.

The video has become a holiday tradition for local families to see scenes and faces of local residents and public safety officials preparing for Christmas. This marks the fifth annual video. View the video at facebook.com/HancockIN911.

Poetry, dancing events available for teens

Poetry Night is at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 21 at the central Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Teens in grades 6-12 can drop in to create collage poems out of magazine clippings.

Tweens and teens ages 9 to 18 and their families can celebrate the new year with an evening of dancing. Wear dance shoes or smooth-soled shoes; “festive attire is admired, but not required” according to the website. The event is at the New Palestine branch of the HCPL, 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.
