McCordsville Police Department investigating shooting

MCCORDSVILLE — Officials with the McCordsville Police Department (MPD) are offering little information about a shooting incident they are still investigating. The incident sent at least one person to the hospital with the suspect or suspects still at large.

Officials with the MPD said the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 6400 block of Teakwood Way, in the Villages at Brookside Neighborhood. The neighborhood is located near County Roads North 600W and West 800N.

The isolated shooting sent a 27-year-old male to Methodist Hospital. In a release from the MPD, officials said the investigation has shown the victim was specifically chosen, and this was not a random act of violence. No details of where the male was shot or his condition have been released other than to say he is currently recovering at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Officials information on the suspect or suspects is not being released by officials at the time they said in the release.

Investigators are however asking for any residents in the area with information or exterior camera footage from the early morning hours of Dec. 13 to contact them at their email address at [email protected] or at their phone number, (317) 335-2812.

Officials also noted, McCordsville residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to us by contacting the Hancock County 911 Center using 911 or non-emergency dispatch at 317-477-4400. We appreciate the public’s help in this investigation.

Officials say this was an isolated incident of violence, and there is no known threat to the public.
