Veterans parade coming up

GREENFIELD – The second annual Veterans Parade will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 10, and organizers are encouraging veterans to join in and the community to watch the route. The parade starts at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, goes down Apple Street past the VFW Post 2693, along Main Street and down State Street past the Hancock County Veterans Park, back along Main Street to Broadway Street. The parade ends at Greenfield-Central High School, concluding with the school’s Veterans Day Celebration at about 2 p.m. in the main gym of 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield.

Brick campaign available for new shelter house

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation has launched a Give Me Shelter Brick Campaign to coincide with construction of a new shelter house at Riley Park.

People may purchase an engraved brick for $50 to celebrate family friends and organizations. They will be placed on the walkway leading up to the building, which needs to be re-built after a fire destroyed the previous event space at Riley Park. Community connections event coming up

GREENFIELD – Purdue Extension Hancock County will host its annual Community Connections event from 4-7 pm. Nov. 11.

The event will feature a chicken noodle dinner benefiting the organization’s programming (cash or check only) with adult meals $15 and youth meals for those under age 8 at $8. Homemade ice cream is available for $4.

The event is designed to help the community learn more about 4-H, agriculture and natural resources and health and human sciences programming. A silent auction will be from 4-6:30 p.m. and there will also be free children’s activities and door prizes. The event is at the Sarah Burke Building of the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds, 620 Apple St., Greenfield.

Children’s theater to present play

GREENFIELD – Kids Play Inc. presents “The Snow White Variety Show” Nov. 10-12 in downtown Greenfield.

The play features a twist on the classic story: the host of “Real Talk with Fairy Tale Legends” gets to the truth of the Snow White story. Each of the seven dwarves seems to have their own version of how things really went down.

Tickets are available now or at the door an hour before showtime. Tickets are $5 at Hometown Comics, 1040 N. State St., Greenfield.
