Parade of Lights planned

GREENFIELD – The annual Christmas Parade of Lights in downtown Greenfield will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

The Riley Festival committee is planning the event and seeking parade entries, all of which must be decorated with a minimum of 500 lights. Parade applications are available at rileyfestival.com and must be completed by Dec. 1 by email at [email protected] or sent to 20 W. South St., Greenfield, IN 46140.

The parade route will be from the courthouse annex parking lot, up American Legion Place to Main Street, to Pennsylvania Street, to South Street. The parade will disband at South Street and Riley Avenue. A tree lighting ceremony will be at Depot Street Park.

Those who wish to participate should be aware of the following rules: one adult must be on floats on which children are riding, throwing of candy is prohibited but units may have walkers passing out candy, and no Santa costumes are allowed as Santa will be in a fire truck at the end of the parade.
