Clair L. Wrightsman, 84, a resident of Carthage passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at his home. He was born March 5, 1939 in Danville, IN. to the late Leonard and Lenore (Scott) Wrightsman.

A 1957 graduate of Carthage High School, he retired from Carthage Elementary School where he was employed as custodian for twelve years. Clair had previously worked at D &M Corp. in Connersville for thirty years. He was very active in the Westland Friends Church for 53 years where he served as head trustee, greeter and was involved with the Quaker Men’s Yearly Meeting.

Clair was a past President of the Carthage Lions Club and a member of the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen in Greenfield. He never met a stranger, loved everyone and always offered a helping hand to anyone in need. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes as well as playing and watching basketball. Above all, Clair loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

Those left to cherish Clair’s memory include his wife of 53 years: Barbara (Nolen) Wrightsman, whom he married June 28, 1970; two children: Stephen (Jeannette) Wrightsman and Lisa Wrightsman (Rick Gross), both of Carthage; two grandsons: Sullivan and Isaiah; brother: Jerry (Dottie) Wrightsman of Greenfield; sister: Mardell Wilson of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews; special friends who visited regularly: Jim Durick, Reid Barnes and Charlie Watkins.

The family would like to give a “special thank” you to Clair’s caregivers: Jeff, Pastor Phil, Beth, Doris, Ilene, Mardell and Jerry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Wayne Wrightsman.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Hubert Nolen officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Center Indy, 11850 Brookville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
