RICHMOND — Junior running back Joliba Brogan got Mt. Vernon’s scoring spree started and freshman quarterback Mason Meyer and Co. did the rest in the Marauders 56-21 victory at Richmond in Friday’s quarterfinal round game of Class 4A Sectional 22.

After a turnover, Tyler Etherington scored on a 3-yard run to put the Marauders up 28-0 with still 1:13 remaining in the opening period.

Meyer threw two second-quarter TD passes, rushed for another, and the Marauder defense scored to give MV a 56-7 halftime lead.

Five seconds into the second quarter, Meyer scored on a 1-yard run. He threw TD strikes to both Domanic Barnett (37 yards) and Chris Edmonds (59 yards). Defensive lineman Devin Kendrex had an interception for a touchdown.
