The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels are among attractions featured at next weekend’s Crossroads of America Air show, Oct. 28-29 at Indianapolis Regional Airport in Greenfield. The unit, formed in 1946, is the second oldest formal aerobatic team in the world.

GREENFIELD — Organizers of the upcoming Crossroads Air Show have told Greenfield city officials to expect a big crowd at the upcoming show, which takes place Oct. 28-29 at the Indianapolis Regional Airport on Mt. Comfort Road.

It’s the first time the air show has come to Greenfield in 12 years, officials shared at the Oct. 11 Greenfield City Council meeting.

According to promotional materials, the event “will showcase some of the most amazing aircraft in the world” — including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels — “and provide a unique opportunity to witness incredible aerobatic displays.”

The event will feature a diverse range of aircraft, from historic warbirds and modern fighter jets to acrobatic planes and helicopters.

Some air show fans were taken aback, however, by the advertised price of parking at this year’s event.

Single-day admission tickets are just $10, but don’t include parking. A single-day standard parking pass is $150, motorcycle parking is $50 and bus parking is $500.

Harvest Church, located across the street from the airport, is hosting its “Festival of Flight” from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

The public is invited to stop by to enjoy food trucks, inflatables, face painting and free parking, “along with some incredible views.”

Admission is free, but donations of canned goods and newborn diapers will be collected for local non-profits. Church officials have shared that attendees cannot enter the airport by parking at Harvest Church.
