GREENFIELD

Pamela Kay (Hughey) Deer, 76, Greenfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Pamela was born on September 11, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN, to Charles and Carol (Haine) Hughey. She graduated from Zionsville High School.

Pamela was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She was a caretaker and nurse to her son Joshua, for 39 years, until his passing. As her other children grew up, they seen the care, love, and dedication she exemplified to their brother and fondly recall their mom being their rock. Pamela was also utterly devoted to God. She hosted in-home bible studies. She spread the word of God to all. After her children grew and went their separate ways, Pamela became a “grandma” to many kids as she tutored, mentored, and watched over the little ones at Alpha & Omega Day Care with Trinity Park Church. Pamela was often referred to as “running for Mayor” as she knew no stranger, spoke to everyone, called everyone “Honey,” and embraced all as a grandma figure. But above all, Pamela loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.

Pamela is survived by her loving children, Heather (Martin) Thomas and Jamie (Nancy) Deer; granddaughters, Nichole Henderson and Sammi (Jon) Bryson; great-grandchildren, Annabel Delhiemer, Adeline Delhiemer, and Owen Andrew James Bryson; siblings, Cheryl (Matthew) MacWillie, Terri (Mark) Cassie, and Dean Hughey; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Joshua Deer.
