It’s back: Germanfest is sit-down again, one of several German-themed events

GREENFIELD — German Fest will return to Faith Lutheran Church Sept. 30.

The annual fundraiser that features traditional German food had been drive-through only for the last few years but will be in-person from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 30. Tickets are $15 for an adult meal and $7 for ages 2-12 and includes pork roast, brats, sauerkraut, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, German potato salad, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce, dessert and tea or lemonade. There will also be family activities, such as a photo booth and crafts.

Proceeds benefit Faith Lutheran Preschool. The event will be at 200 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

German cuisine-themed events are coming up at several local Lutheran congregations.

Zion Lutheran Church’s annual German dinner is set for Sept. 30. This free community event will feature sauerbraten, brats, German potato salad, potato pancakes and other fare. Children’s activities begin at 4 p.m., and the dinner runs from 5-7 p.m. A German band will provide entertainment. The church is located at 6513 W. County Road 300 South, New Palestine.

Cross of Grace Lutheran Church plans a German-themed Oktoberfest party from 5-11 p.m. Oct. 29, timed to connect with celebration of the Reformation. It will feature some fundraisers for a 2024 youth trip to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s National Youth Gathering. Raffles and a cornhole tournament are planned.
