Prep roundup: Marauders win in three over Triton Central

Mt. Vernon was in control from start to finish in its 3-0 sweep at Triton Central Wednesday.

The Marauders volleyball team improved to 12-9 with the win. Triton Central dropped to 13-6.

Alivia Morgan had 10 kills and two blocks to help lead Mt. Vernon to set wins by scores of 25-10, 25-9, 25-11.

Jaycee Jones added nine kills and Easton Wampler finished six attacks and was part of two blocks.

Mt. Vernon had 14 service aces, led by Avery Delello with five. Ainsley Baer had four and Aubry Dowling with three.

Delello had 14 digs and Baer added seven. Setter Ava Whitmore had 32 assists.

Mt. Vernon travels to Lawrence North Thursday.

Royals win in 3

Eastern Hancock’s volleyball team picked up a three-set sweep of visiting Tri Wednesday.

The Royals won by set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-23.

Eastern Hancock improved to 14-5 on the season. Tri dropped to 10-10. Eastern visits Monroe Central for a Mid-Eastern Conference match Thursday.

Cougars lose to No. 3 Tigers

Greenfield-Central’s volleyball team lost at No. 3 Yorktown in a Hoosier Heritage Conference match Wednesday.

The Cougars lost 3-0 by set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-14.

Greenfield-Central (15-4, 3-3) will host the Cougar Challenge Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Yorktown improved to 16-4 overall and 6-0 in the HHC.

Boys tennis

Cougars win on Senior Night

Greenfield-Central’s boys tennis team swept visiting Yorktown 5-0 on Senior Night Wednesday.

The Cougars won all but nine games and improved to 15-3 overall and finish the HHC season 6-1.

The program’s five seniors, Liam Flanagan, Chris Long, CJ Michalek, Caden Robertson, and Thomas Ryba were all recognized at the match.

Greenfield-Central visits Warren Central on Saturday.
