Local family facing cancer to benefit from events

GREENFIELD – A live auction is coming up to help a local family face expenses from cancer.

Evan Roberts, an Eastern Hancock alumni, is facing an aggressive form of cancer. He’s a local auctioneer, insurance agent, lawncare business owner and Realtor; he’s married to Brittany and has three children: Brantley, 8, Scarlett, 6, and Levi, 4.

A benefit auction will start at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at Huber Auction Center, 230 E. Osage St., Greenfield. Organizers are seeking donations for items to auction, which could include gift baskets, event tickets, concert tickets, jewelry, gift certificates and more. Donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, 540 Green Meadows Drive, Greenfield. A second event to benefit the family will be at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Harper Truck/Car Meet and drag racing in a field at 168 N. 400W., Greenfield. Cost is $10 per person to watch the drag racing, which begins at 8 p.m. The silent auction begins at 5 p.m. Donations to the silent auction are still being accepted by calling Shantell Tharpe, 317-225-7200.
