Seger tribute band coming to Greenfield

GREENFIELD – Night Moves, called “The Ultimate Bob Seger Tribute,” comes to downtown Greenfield Sept. 9.

The band is a recreation of the Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band from the 1970s and ’80s based on the “Live Bullet” and “Nine Tonight” albums. The free concert, part of the Live @ the Rails Series, begins at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 with opening act Mike and the Boys, followed by the headliner at 8 p.m.

The concert is at Depot Street Park, 251 Depot St., Greenfield.

Fall plant sale coming up

GREENFIELD – Hancock County Master Gardeners is planning its fall plant sale for September.

The event will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 8; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds 4-H Show Arena, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. The event will include perennials and fall annual for sale, live demonstrations and master gardeners on site to answer questions.

Charity bed race coming up

GREENFIELD – Check out racing beds in a charity event coming up in September.

The sixth annual Four Post 400 Bed Race is an event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 Apple St., Greenfield. Proceeds benefit Hancock County veterans; the event is hosted by the Dale E. Kuhn American Legion Post 119.

Vendors open at 11 a.m. there will be a presentation of nations’ colors, a pledge and invocation at noon. A parade of beds starts at 12:30 p.m., followed by races from 1-3 p.m. A cornhole tournament for all levels will also be throughout the event.

Libraries to host free concerts

HANCOCK COUNTY – Two free concerts are coming to local libraries in September.

The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, known as the state’s premier ensemble of big band jazz with instrumentalists and vocalists, will perform at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Sadie Johnson, a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, will perform blues, folk and funk with soulful vocals and guitar at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13. The event is at the Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.
