INGALLS
Leon D. Sigler, 85, of Ingalls, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Indianapolis. He was born November 5, 1937, in Ingalls to Horace H. and Dolly M. (Bramel) Sigler. Leon retired as a custodian at the former Delco Remy plant in Anderson. Prior to working at Delco Remy, Leon was a cement mason.
Leon was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 662 and the Plasters & Cement Masons Union. He loved riding motorcycles, mowing his lawn, gardening and traveling. He hunted and trapped as a young man and did taxidermy. Leon was on the Hancock Central regional runner-up boys basketball team that lost to eventual state champions Crispus Attucks.
He had horses his whole life and his best horse was Archie who he had for 36 years.
Leon is survived by children Tim (Shirley) Sigler of Spencer, Jay (Jenny) Sigler of Fortville and Marcia (Billy) Hurst of Ingalls, grandchildren Cody Sigler, Ben (Jenny) Holmes Sigler, Nicholas (Samantha) Sigler, Elizabeth (Abhi) Sigler, Duane Hurst, Emilee (Cole) Williams and Lauralee (Justin) Borgmann, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as close friends Jamie and Harold Boggs. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Jacob Sigler, siblings Sharon Baker, Harry and Charles Sigler.
A funeral to celebrate Leon’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Menden Cemetery in Pendleton.
