Lora Kay Wedgeworth, age 74, known to most as “Kay,” passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kay was born on April 4, 1949, in Anderson, Indiana, to Jack and Juanita (Gahimer) Arnold. Having been raised in Fortville, Indiana, Kay graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1967. Kay proceeded to DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, before she married her high school sweetheart Ronnie on July 25, 1969, and transferred to the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology &Social Work with a minor in Spanish. Kay and her husband lived briefly in Mississippi and Georgia before returning to Indiana with residences in Indianapolis and most recently in Fortville for over 40 years. As a dedicated servant to the Lord, her family, and the community around her, Kay spread faith and hope to all, was a homemaker, serving as spouse and mother to her children and grandchild, and had served in volunteer positions with Meals-on-Wheels (15 years), Main Street Food Pantry (20 years), and United Methodist Women’s group President (multiple times). Kay excelled in and was faithful to these JOBS of LOVE &SERVICE without one complaint.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents: Jack and Juanita Arnold, her parents-in-law: Lavell and Nora Wedgeworth, her brother: Kittredge Arnold, and her brother-in law: Larry Wedgeworth. Kay is survived by her husband: Ronnie Wedgeworth, her sons: Michael, Timothy, and Brock Wedgeworth, her grandson: Timothy Wedgeworth, Jr., her siblings: Lochia (David) Farrar and Don (Deborah) Arnold, her sister-in-law: Jo Arnold, her brother-in-law: David Wedgeworth, and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Kay will be deeply missed by all who knew her and all whose lives she had touched by her service, but the Lord has welcomed her to a place of eternal rest, saying well done good and faithful servant. Kay is no longer in any pain nor suffering but only experiencing everlasting joy so that she can shine down upon us as we remember the good days that we had with her until our time to meet her again.

Viewing and visitation will be held at Seals Funeral Home, 122 West Staat Street, in Fortville, Indiana, from 11am to 1pm, on Thursday, July 13, with Funeral Service to immediately follow at that same location. Burial will be at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 W 1025 S, Fortville, Indiana, immediately following the funeral. Flowers or other gifts are accepted. In lieu of those, you may make a donation to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation, or your favorite charity or social service organization in honor of the life that Kay led so that God’s LOVE may continue to expand, making her legacy not only one to talk about but also one providing active assistance for years to come.
