HANCOCK COUNTY — Just off I-70, in the east Indianapolis area, a fleet maintenance and recondition facility from Transport Enterprise Leasing, TEL, was unveiled last week.
The 56,000 square-foot building sits on 40 acres at 4753 W. CR 300N, west of Tsuda, Wesco and University Loft, and is set to handle more than 130 tractors and trailers in a month, which will expand maintenance and reconditioning for TEL across the Midwest.
With the new facility recently opened, it created 30 jobs for their first shift, and plans to have a second shift started in 2024.
Aaron Thompson, vice president of Fleet Maintenance for the company joined in 2020, and has 22 years of transportation experience.
Thompson said in their recent press release, “TEL’s mission has always been to help entrepreneurial minded individuals start and maintain successful businesses in the trucking industry. We do that by offering innovative solutions, unparalleled value and best-in-class service and support to aid in growing their businesses. This maintenance and reconditioning facility is a testament to our commitment to serve independent contractors and small fleet customers in the Midwest and beyond.”
TEL was originally founded in 2004, and is a national provider of commercial truck and trailer leasing, sales and remarketing. With headquarters being located in Chattanooga, TN, TEL provides and finances new and like-new transport equipment for brands including Peterbilt, Freightliner, Volvo, Kenworth, Hyundai, Wabash, Utility and Fontaine.
TEL president and co-founder Jud Alexander oversees TEL’s revenue and support divisions. Alexander attended the grand opening event in Greenfield with Thompson last week to welcome leaders, employees and more.
“The Greenfield facility is already increasing the level of service TEL is able to provide customers,” Alexander said according to the press release. “It is a great example of the level of growth we have achieved to date, with much more to come, as TEL expands from the Southeast across the Midwest and into Texas and the Southwest.”
Before opening the Greenfield faculty, TEL had leased space to operate in a smaller facility located in Marion County.
Thompson said in the press release, “The Hancock County economic development zone is what drew us to Greenfield.”
The newly opened facility has six trailer bays, 18 truck service bays, and 10,000 square-feet for parts storage. It also includes a paint booth for the tractors and parts getting the reconditioning process, storage for tractors and trailers, and an automated indoor truck wash system.
The Department of Transportation, DOT, will also have full-time technicians to provide DOT inspections for vehicles.
