Drey Jameson continued his string of shutout performances out of the Arizona Diamondbacks bullpen Thursday.
The rookie right-hander, and 2019 first-round pick of the Arizona MLB club, threw three innings of relief in a 6-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
He gave up just one hit, one walk and struck out four.
It was his fourth straight performance of going two innings or more without giving up a run.
During the stretch dating back to June 15, Jameson, a 2017 graduate of Greenfield-Central High School, has thrown 9 1/3 innings of shutout relief and has given up seven hits, one walk and struck out 10.
The three-inning stint Thursday against the Rays was his longest since throwing 3 1/3 innings on June 3 against the Atlanta Braves.
Jameson came up at the end of last season as a starter. He was part of the D-backs Opening Day roster and was used as a bullpen pitcher. He moved to the starting rotation, but after a rough outing as a starter, he was sent down to Triple-A. He was recalled at the end of May.
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed, in a report from FanNation Inside the Diamondbacks, part of the Sports Illustrated network, that Jameson will remain in the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
Since being called up, Jameson has a 2.61 ERA.
For the season, he is 3-1 with a save and a 3.11 ERA in 37 2/3 innings of work.
In less than a year in the major leagues, dating back to his callup in September last season, Jameson is 6-1 with a 2.47 ERA in 62 innings.
