High honors: Mt. Vernon teachers, staff recognized for service, achievements

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon’s retirees and staff were honored recently with an End-of-the-Year Recognition Program, as administrators thanked staff for years of service, hard work, dedication and professional achievements.

Retirees were Karen Cochran, 42 years with Mt. Vernon schools; Lisa Long, 27 years; Rita Osborn, 26 years; Dana Hochstedler, 21 years; Susan Diane Rafert, 18 years; Julie Cole, 12 years; Dawn Guthrie, 11 years; and James Cochran, 10 years.

Teresa Cook and Delinda Deckard were recognized for 30 years of service to Mt. Vernon schools.

Kathy Reed and Rita Osborn were honored for 25 years of service.

Staff honored for 20 years of service included Lori Barnett, Jill Chastain, Jenny David, Deborah Griffey, Mary Hopper, Jacqueline Hutslar, Nicole Johnson, Kyle Miller, Kristina Monagle, Lisa Tapy and Stacy Webber.

Jeff Crague was honored for 15 years of service.

Staff honored for 10 years of service included Leigh Anderson, Lindsey Crow, Rodney Fite, Ashley Gronganz, Mathew Hankley, Elizabeth Jenkins, Shanda Jouppi, Stephanie Miller, Amy Nichols, Desiray Scalf, Jordan Sell and Jaime Wilson.

Staff recognized for five years of service included Michelle Anderson, Lucinda Blair, Brian Boudouris, Gerri Burge, Nicholas Clarkson, Haley Emmert, Jessica Gowin, Kacie Grimm, Cary Hargis, Tracy Hoyt, Camille Hull, Michelle Martin, Jay Matthews, Argelyn McNutt, Jaclyn Nason, Christi Poske, Nicole Rehm, Benjamin Rhoades, Lee Ann Sherman, Erin Siefker, Byron Simpson, Jennifer Sims, Emily Snider, Emily Tucker, Debra Wilkinson, John Wilkinson, and Laura Wilson.

Several staff members were honored for outstanding career achievements, having obtained certifications or degrees in their profession. These honorees included Lauren Adams, Michelle Anderson, Angela Avers, Tammy Bauchert, Jennifer Bayliss, Jessica Buell, Kim Clark, James Cochran, Michelle Dunahee, Laura Durig, Brandon Ecker, Anita Erkmanis, Jordan Gerbsch, Joana Goff, Jessica Gowin, Sarah Hall, Lisa Heitman, Sophie Hrinowich, Angela Hyde, Heidi Kensinger, Abby Kern, Yi-Fan Lin, Amy McCleery, Laura McWilliams, Stephanie Miller, Madeline Murphy, Hannah Neher, Dr. Jack Parker, Leah Perry, Amanda Robinson, Jennifer Sherback Leroy Striker, Lisa Terrell and Noelle Truex.

All five members of the school board were honored for obtaining the Indiana School Board Association Exemplary Governance Award, including Kellie Freeman, Phil Edwards, Chad Gray, Tony May and Shannon Walls.

The district’s teacher and staff of the year nominees and winners were also honored again; they had been honored at the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation Gala in early April: Karen Reisterer was named teacher of the year, while Wendy Mayo was staff member of the year.
