GREENFIELD
Robert “Bob” Morris Mitchell, age 84, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born in Rush County on August 21, 1938, he was the son of Ruth (Richey) Mitchell and Clarence Mitchell. He graduated from Morristown High School with the class of 1956. On September 10, 1961, Bob married Margaret (Polley) in Morristown. He proudly served in the United States Army, as an SP5 Clerk Typist, from 1961 until 1967.
For 18 years, he worked for F&M Oil Company, in Finly, where he delivered fuel to homes and farms. Bob then worked at Farm Bureau Co-Op/Ag One, in Greenfield, for 16 years. He also spent time as a volunteer firefighter at Fountaintown Volunteer Fire Department. Bob was a former member of Morristown Christian Church and Shiloh Christian Church. In his free time, he enjoyed wood and leather working and spending time on projects in his garage. Bob was very talented and hardworking and could fix all things carpentry, electrical, plumbing and automotive. If you heard him whistling, he was probably tinkering with something. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Mitchell of Greenfield; son, Donn (Vicki) Mitchell; daughter, Debra Nunnally (Dave Amburgey); grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Kaiser of New Palestine, Christopher (Stephanie) Dalton of Smithfield, VA, Derek Mitchell and Collin Adams both of Hagerstown, Victoria, Jessica and John Mitchell all of Spiceland, Melia (Ryan) Kelly of Villa Rica, GA, Miranda Adams of Vancouver, WA; great-grandchildren, Hunter Dalton of New Palestine, Serenity and Evalyn Dalton of Smithfield, VA, Maelynn, Leilan and Rhys Kelly of Villa Rica, GA, and Quinn and Madison Adams of Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Clarence; sister, Sharyl Mitchell; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, IN.
