Braun to host veterans event Feb. 24

INDIANAPOLIS – Sen. Mike Braun will host an event for veterans Feb. 24 to help them and families receive assistance through federal, state and local services.

Programs include federal agency assistance, where the senator’s office acts as a liaison between constituents and federal agencies such as The Veterans Administration, Department of Defense, International Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and more.

The office can also assist those who request to have a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol; or who need assistance securing tours of the Capitol, White House or other locations. Attendees are also welcome to voice their views on matters in Congress, the federal government and Washington D.C.

The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 24 at Fort Harrison Veterans Center, 9450 E. 59th St., Indianapolis. For questions, contact [email protected].

Free financial class starting soon

GREENFIELD – A free financial education series starts Feb. 9 and runs through March 16.

Faith and Finances, hosted by Love in the Name of Christ of Greater Hancock County, will be at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St., Greenfield.

Each session will be 6-730 p.m. on Thursdays. Dinner and childcare is provided.

Euchre event to benefit soup kitchen

GREENFIELD – A euchre tournament benefiting the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen is coming up at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11.

The event, at Elks Club, 820 S. State St., Greenfield, will include eight deals per game. Winners move to the next table and change partners each game; partners are not needed to participate. The top three scorers win cash prizes.

Cost is $10 per person; half goes to the kitchen and half to the prize pot. Bring quarters for 25 cents for each euchre. Pulled pork baskets and cash bar are available. Visit facebook.com/KBMSoupKitchen for more.
