Isabella Gizzi scored a season-high 35 points to lead New Palestine to a big Hoosier Heritage Conference road win at Shelbyville Tuesday.

The Dragons won their fifth straight game, downing the Golden Bears 59-51.

New Palestine is 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the HHC. Shelbyville dropped to 8-2 and 0-2 in conference play.

Gizzi hit five 3-pointers and was 12 of 13 at the free-throw line, including 11 of 12 in the fourth quarter.

After one quarter, New Palestine led 12-5. Shelbyville battled back and led 23-17 at halftime.

It was a two-point game, 38-36, heading into the final period.

New Palestine scored 21 points each in the final two quarters. Gizzi had 27 points in the second half.

She had plenty of help from Vivian Miller, who finished with 14 points. Miller had nine in the second half. Allie Blum added six points.

Shelbyville was led by Ava Wilson with 24 points. Kylee Edwards had 16.

New Palestine takes on Hancock County and HHC rival Greenfield-Central Friday, at Greenfield. Shelbyville has a conference game Friday at New Castle.
