County adds COVID-19 death; total at 179

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 179 after a fatality was reported on Friday.

The recent death was a man in his 70s who died on Oct. 25, according to information from the Indiana Department of Health.

Hancock County also added 24 new novel coronavirus cases Friday. Indiana added 1,940 new cases. The state recorded 17 new deaths spanning from Oct. 9 through 28, raising its total to 16,134.

Both Hancock County’s and Indiana’s daily case counts continue to trend downward. The county’s most recent seven-day moving average is 15, while the state’s is 1,575.
