Zula Christine (Johnson) Mann Ragan, 85, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1930, in Somerset, Kentucky, as the daughter of Arlie and Z. Fay (Chumbley) Johnson.
She graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1948. On Sept. 10, 1950, Zula married Walter Gene Mann, after his passing, then later married George Washington Ragan Jr., on Nov. 25, 2000.
She worked for Western Electric for over 25 years before retiring, and most recently worked for Cynthia’s Hallmark for over 20 years. Zula was a member of Greenfield Christian Church and assisted with communion at the church. She was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Hancock County Home Economics Club.
Zula is survived by her children, Jerry (Tony Barnes) Mann of Panama City Beach, Florida, Pamela (David) Cavaletto of Greenfield, and Patricia Simpson of Greenfield; sister Ruth Anna Kise of Knightstown; eight grandchildren, Adam (Nicole) Mann, Andrea (Jason) Cramer, Giuseppe (Alisha) Cavaletto, Mario Cavaletto, Jacobi Cavaletto, Oliva Cavaletto, Wade and Wyatt Simpson; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Z. Fay (Chumbley) Johnson; husbands Walter Gene Mann and George Washington Ragan Jr.; and brother Landis Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., immediately following the visitation. Reverend Frank Everett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Indiana.
