GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man has been accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment and taking her Apple Watch, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Kameron Phillip Adam McPherson, 30, 300 block of McCully Street, has been arrested and charged with a Level 4 felony count of breaking into a dwelling; a Level 6 felony count of residential entry and a Class A misdemeanor count of theft. The most serious charge carries a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

According to court documents, police were called to investigate an incident June 10 in the 4000 block of West Potomac Drive, in the Washington Village apartments. The victim told officials McPherson entered the dwelling overnight — apparently using a copy of a key made without the victim’s permission — and took the device.

The victim started getting texts and calls from McPherson, the affidavit said, complaining about the victim’s social behavior. The suspect would only have known about the victim’s actions by reading the private texts messages on the watch, the affidavit said.

Video surveillance showed a man leaving the area of the victim’s dwelling the night the Apple watch went missing. Surveillance footage also showed the vehicle and routes investigators think the suspect used to travel to and from the victim’s address, the affidavit said. A ping on the watch showed it to be located near an address where McPherson lives.

McPherson made his initial appearance Thursday, June 17, in Hancock County Superior Court 1. Judge D.J. Davis set a $10,000 cash bond. According to court records, McPherson is scheduled to appear in court again July 20.
