GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Democratic Party had added an additional guest appearance to its virtual meeting on Monday, May 10. State party chair Mike Schmuhl will address the group. Another speaker, Julia Vaughn, the policy director of Common Cause Indiana, will discuss redistricting.

Vaughn will talk about the Indiana General Assembly’s upcoming efforts to draw the lines of congressional and state legislative districts. Common Cause Indiana, a non-partisan organization, aims to educate the public and lobby the legislature on the issue of partisan gerrymandering, in which districts are drawn to encourage a party’s preferred election outcomes.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m., with party business preceding Vaughn’s appearance at 7 p.m. Schmuhl is expected to speak at 8 p.m. For a link to the Zoom meeting, contact party chair Linda Genrich at 317-586-8150 or [email protected].
