HANCOCK COUNTY — The League of Women Voters of Hancock County will host a screening of “Just Mercy” at 6 p.m. May 6 at the H. J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St. “Just Mercy,” based on the book by Brian Stevenson, is the story of Stevenson’s life’s work to rescue the wrongly convicted — usually people of color — from death row. Admission is $5 at the door or free for those who have read the book (available at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road) and take the survey. The film will be followed by a public question-and-answer session and panel discussion that will include Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton, retired officer Michael Cunegin, and ordained minister Patty Franklin. HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Master Gardener Association will host its annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 30 and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 1 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. A large variety of herbs, annuals, perennials, and miscellaneous gardening tools will be on sale. Master Gardeners & Herb Society members will be available to answer questions.
