HANCOCK COUNTY — County officials have issued an arrest warrant for a New Palestine man who they say supplied alcohol to a teenage girl and then raped her in January.

Patrick Thompson, 39, 5000 block of West Stonehaven Lane, has been charged with 13 crimes, including five Level 3 felony counts of rape; five Level 4 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor; a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery; and two Class B misdemeanor charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The most serious charges against Thompson are punishable by up to 16 years in prison.

Officers from the New Palestine Police Department have tried to serve an arrest warrant on Thompson several times, but as of the Daily Reporter’s deadline on Friday, they had not been able to locate him and fear he may be in hiding.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on Jan. 2, officers from the New Palestine Police Department went to a residence in Greenfield to investigate a report of sexual assault that had occurred in the early-morning hours that day at a home on West Stonehaven Lane in New Palestine.

The report states a girl who was under 16 years old had gone with a male friend to the New Palestine home, where Thompson supplied them with numerous drinks of alcohol, causing the girl to get sick and almost black out.

Thompson is accused of sexually assaulting the girl first on a couch and then in a bedroom. Thompson is also accused of choking and slapping the girl.

The girl’s friend told investigators he saw Thompson walking the girl into a bedroom. After becoming scared and starting to “freak out,” he called another person, who suggested he intervene. He began pounding on the bedroom door, which was locked. The girl eventually was able to leave the room, and the two retreated to another bedroom and escaped the house through a window, the affidavit said.

During questioning Thompson admitted supplying the two minors with alcohol and giving the girl a clean shirt after she became sick, but he told investigators he could not remember anything else that might have happened because he was intoxicated, the affidavit said.

Both the witness and girl were interviewed at Kids Talk Child Advocacy Center in Anderson.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Thompson is asked to call officials with the New Palestine Police Department at 317-861-4225 or the Sheriff’s Department at 317-477-1147.
